Whenever you open a door in a refrigeration trailer or truck, outside air is drawn inside as the refrigeration unit's evaporator pulls in new air for conditioning. When you're hauling fresh or frozen product in hot, humid climates, frequent door openings cause the refrigeration unit to have to work especially hard to maintain the proper cargo temperature. And, even though the unit may be running continuously, because of the numerous door openings, it simply can't keep up. Over time, the cargo temperature can change considerably, and can result in product being delivered in less than desirable condition.
The solution: magnetic door switches, which can be wired to shut off remote evaporators, close dampers, or even shut down units as soon as the doors are open...and automatically restart them as soon as the doors are closed.
