Restarting a diesel engine once it has run out of fuel is no picnic. Chances are, before it can be restarted, you will need to prime and bleed the system. It's a hassle. It can also result in unnecessary costs. Direct costs for service calls and replacement parts. And indirect costs in the form of downtime and reduced life of system components such as starters, glow plugs, injection pumps and batteries.
With thermo King's PrimeGuard you can eliminate all that hassle and cost.
The PrimeGuard module senses significant drop in engine RPM. Whether operating in high or low speed, such a drop will occur when an engine begins to run out of fuel. Should the sensor register a sustained drop in engine RPM, PrimeGuard will shut down the unit immediately. This early shut down will leave enough fuel in the injection system to allow the unit to be easily restarted as soon as fuel is added to the tank. PrimeGuard also will be activated if engine RPM is reduced due to air, water, or gelled fuel. When PrimeGuard is initiated, a red light on the control panel is illuminated.
Unit Applications: SB-II and SB-III, Super-II, Sentry and Sentry-II, SMX and others (check with your Thermo King dealer). Not needed for Smart Reefer units.
